CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago students can support the nationally ranked men's volleyball team and the men's and women's basketball squads, while also winning some great prizes, at Spirit Week activities which are planned for January 19-21. During that three-day stretch, the Ramblers will host Valparaiso (Jan. 19) and Butler (Jan. 21) in men's and women's basketball, and Penn State (Jan. 20) in men's volleyball.

Spirit Week activities kick off on Thursday, January 19 when the women's basketball team takes on Valparaiso at 4:30 p.m. in Gentile Arena. At halftime of the women's game, students are invited to come to a tailgate in the Gentile Arena Rockstar Lounge. Free pizza and soda will be served and students will also receive free cups and tattoos. Loyola's men's basketball team will also take on Valpo on January 19 in a 7 p.m. contest. Free tattoos and cups will be handed out to the first 500 students in attendance.

Prior to the men's volleyball showdown with No. 7 Penn State on Friday, January 20, a tailgate will be held at 5 p.m. in the Rockstar Lounge in Gentile Arena. In addition to pizza and soft drinks being provided, tailgaters will be able to play bags and ladder golf, or get their photo taken with LU Wolf. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive free t-shirts.

On Saturday, January 21, pizza and soft drinks will be served to Loyola students in the Gentile Arena Rockstar Lounge beginning at 11 a.m., before Ben Averkamp, Walt Gibler and the rest of the Rambler men's basketball team takes on two-time NCAA Runner-Up Butler at 1 p.m. Students are encouraged to wear gold and the shirt that is handed out at Friday's volleyball match to Saturday's basketball games. Following the men's game versus Butler, the Loyola women's basketball team will take on the Bulldogs at 4 p.m.

Students will need to pick up their free Spirit Week Ticket Bundle in the Norville Center for Intercollegiate Athletics, Terry Student Center or Centennial Forum Student Union on January 18 or 19 in order to receive tickets to all three Spirit Week games and must show their ticket stub to receive the giveaways.
