Blake Schilb Named Honorable Mention All-America

March 28, 2006

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago men's basketball player Blake Schilb has been named Honorable Mention All-America by the Associated Press, it was announced yesterday. The junior averaged team highs of 19.1 points and 3.9 assists per game this season, in helping lead the Ramblers to their best season since 1984-85. Loyola finished with a 19-11 record this year.

The 6-foot-7 guard scored in double figures in 29 of Loyola's 30 games this season, topping the 20-point plateau on 17 occasions, including in five of the last six contests of the year. In a true sign of versatility, Schilb racked up over 400 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists for the second straight season.

A First Team All-Horizon League selection for the second straight year, Schilb is the first Rambler to earn All-America honors since Alfredrick Hughes was selected to the first team in 1985. He has scored in double figures in 32 consecutive regular-season Horizon League contests, and currently ranks 15th on the Loyola career scoring chart with 1,351 points.

In helping Loyola to a 5-1 record in the last six games of the year, Schilb averaged 22.8 ppg, 7.8 rpg and 4.7 apg. He also took home Third Team Mid-Major All-America honors from FOXSports.com this season.

Optimism is high for next year as Loyola returns all but one player from this season's squad.
