Former Loyola Players Off To Great Starts In Pro Seasons

Doyle, Hicks, Robinson, Schilb already in mid-season form

CHICAGO (October 31, 2017) – A handful of former Loyola University Chicago men's basketball student-athletes have started up their seasons with their professional team either in the United States or overseas.

Milton Doyle, who graduated from Loyola in May, had an impressive debut with the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League, tallying 17 points, on 6 of 12 shooting from the field, including 3 of 6 from three-point range, while adding two rebounds, a pair of assists and two blocks in 24 minutes in a 109-103 loss to the Westchester Knicks last night.

The Chicago native, who stood out in NBA Summer League action in Las Vegas in July, spent training camp on the Brooklyn Nets roster before latching on with Long Island earlier this month.

Three other former Loyola standouts are currently playing professionally overseas and are off to strong starts to their respective 2017-18 seasons. Jordan Hicks has come out of the starting blocks on fire and is averaging 19.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game for Basket Esch in Luxembourg, which is 6-1 so far this season. Hicks's best performance to date this year was a 25-point, 11-rebound showing in a victory over Residence on October 21.

Meanwhile, Tracy Robinson has been a key contributor thus far for CDU Concepcion in Chile, putting up 16.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg and 2.6 apg as his squad has gotten off to a 6-4 start to the season. Robinson netted a season-high 27 points versus Puente Alto on October 28 and also collected 24 points and 12 rebounds on October 7 against AB Ancud.

Blake Schilb, a three-time First Team All-Horizon League performer during his Loyola career, has joined Real Betis in Spain this season and is going for 7.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 1.2 apg. His best performance of the young season was a 13-point, 3-rebound effort versus Fuenlabrada on October 22.
