CHICAGO (December 11, 2017) – The Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team is ranked in or is earning votes for several national polls this week. The Ramblers' highest ranking of the week comes in the
College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, where they check in at No. 3.
Thanks to wins at No. 5 Florida and at home versus Norfolk State last week, the Ramblers climbed six spots from last week's rankings in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. Loyola finds itself behind only traditional West Coast Conference powers Gonzaga and Saint Mary's and the Ramblers are one of five Missouri Valley Conference teams ranked in this week's College Insider Mid-Major Top 25.
Loyola collected votes in both the
Associated Press and
USA Today Coaches polls this week, garnering nine votes in the Coaches Poll and five in the AP Poll. The Ramblers also are slotted at No. 33, just ahead of former conference mate Butler (No. 34), in
Andy Katz's Power 36, which ranks the 36 best teams to date, according to the respected college basketball journalist.
In addition to those national rankings, Loyola also sits at No. 9 in the
Mid-Major Madness Power Rankings, vaulting 11 places from a week ago.
With a 10-1 record entering Saturday's game at Milwaukee, Loyola is off to its best start through 11 games since 1965-66, when it also won 10 of its first 11 contests.
