Former Ramblers Succeeding In Professional Basketball Careers

Schilb, Robinson, Blankson thriving overseas

CHICAGO (July 25, 2017) – Former Loyola University Chicago men's basketball standout Milton Doyle wasn't the only Rambler to thrive in his professional playing career this summer. Three other former Loyola student-athletes had or are having successful seasons overseas.

Blake Schilb (2003-07), the only player in Loyola history to accumulate over 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists in his career, averaged 9.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for Galatasaray in Turkey in 2016-17. The 6-foot-7 Rantoul, Illinois native helped Galatasaray to an 18-12 record and connected on 55 percent (92-for-168) of his field goal attempts inside the arc and 51 percent (36-for-71) of his three-point tries. In Euroleague play, Schilb pitched in 9.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 4.0 apg.

Playing for Quilmes in Argentina this season, Tracy Robinson (2004-08) put up 10.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg and 1.4 apg and helped his team reach the semifinal round of the LigaA playoffs. The 6-foot-7 forward, who averaged 5.2 ppg and 2.2 rpg in his Loyola career, shot 51 percent (150-for-295) from the field, 34 percent (66-for-195) from beyond the arc, and 75 percent (123-for-164) from the foul line in 2016-17.

Lastly, Ryan Blankson (2000-02), the last Rambler to average double-figure rebounds for a season (10.1 in 2001-02) is currently in the middle of his year with Miramar in Uruguay. Through 12 games, the 6-foot-6 forward is accounting for 7.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg, while draining 42 percent (31-for-74) of his field goal attempts.
