Tate Hall Transfers To Loyola

6-foot-7 guard averaged 14.8 points, 5.6 rebounds per game in 2017-18 at Indianapolis

CHICAGO (April 30, 2018) – Tate Hall (Greenfield, Ind./Greenfield Central/Indianapolis), a 6-foot-7 guard, has transferred to Loyola University Chicago, head men's basketball coach Porter Moser announced today. Hall, who played the last two seasons at the University of Indianapolis, will have to sit out the 2018-19 season and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

"Tate fits in perfectly with the type of person and player around which we have built this culture," Moser said. "He is an extremely skilled and versatile player who will be able to do a lot of things in our four-out offense. At 6-foot-7, he can shoot with range and also has the ability to strike you off the dribble. I absolutely love his toughness and competitive nature and how he fits into what we are doing. On top of all that, Tate is an outstanding student and is all about winning."

During the 2017-18 season, Hall averaged 14.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game. The sharpshooting guard connected on 56 percent of his field goal attempts, 43.6 percent of his three-point tries, and 73.3 percent of his foul shots in helping the Greyhounds to a 19-9 overall record. In addition to earning First Team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference accolades during his sophomore campaign, Hall also was named CoSIDA Academic All-District.

He poured in 20 or more points on seven occasions this season, scoring in double figures 23 times. In a 90-79 win at William Jewell, he erupted for a career-best 31 points, hitting 13-of-16 shots from the field, including 5-of-7 from long distance, and corralled 11 rebounds. One game earlier, he produced 27 points and a season-high 12 boards in a 97-85 victory at Missouri S&T.

As a freshman, Hall contributed 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest, connecting on 50.5 percent of his field goal attempts, including 36.4 percent of his tries from beyond the arc, and 83.9 percent of his charity tosses. He was lauded as the GLVC Freshman of the Year after his impressive debut.

During his prep career at Greenfield Central High School, Hall put up 16.3 ppg and 5.5 rpg in varsity play, and as a senior was an Indiana Basketball Coaches Association All-State pick after accounting for 18.3 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 2.1 apg and 1.2 spg.

Loyola is coming off its best season in 55 years. The Ramblers recorded a school-record 32 wins in 2017-18 and reached the Final Four for the first time since winning the NCAA championship in 1963. The Ramblers return three starters from that record-setting squad – Honorable Mention All-America guard Clayton Custer and backcourt mate Marques Townes, along with Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year Cameron Krutwig.
