Ramblers Make History on Senior Day

CHICAGO (May 7, 2023) – The Ramblers pulled off their perfect home season Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 shutout against the Flyers. Loyola's sweep against Dayton clinched the No. 2 seed and first round bye for next week's A-10 Tournament.
 
The Ramblers finish the regular season 24-21 overall and 18-6 in league play. Their 14-0 finish at home is the first perfect home record in program history.
 
Sunday's game between the Ramblers and Flyers was a defensive battle as the team's played for the No. 2 seed. Dayton led 3-1 on hits before Loyola broke through the defense in the bottom of the sixth.
 
Teagan Sopczak singled to left on the first pitch of the inning and put it in fifth gear making it home on a deep double to left center from Madison Ebeling to score the game-winning run.
 
Ebeling then avoided the tag on a steal to third and made it 2-0 Loyola following a bunt by Amelia Thomas who beat out the throw at first.
 
The Ramblers retired three straight outs in the top of the seventh to hold off the Flyers for the shutout.

Up Next
The Ramblers will head to Fordham next week for the A-10 Tournament. As the No. 2 seed, they have a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 3 Dayton vs. No. 6 Rhode Island on Thursday, May 11 at 1:30 p.m. CT. A tournament preview will be available early next week.
