AUSTIN, Texas - Four members of the Loyola University Chicago track & field team saw action tonight at the NCAA West Regional at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
On the track, redshirt senior Jake Mazanke and sophomore Kevin White competed in heat two of the men's 800m run First Round. White, out of Wooster, Ohio, crossed the finish line first for the Maroon & Gold, checking in at 1:52.29. Mazanke, a native of St. Charles, Ill., wrote the final chapter on a storied career with the Maroon & Gold as he came across just behind White in 1:52.98. White's time put him 40th on the evening's leaderboard, while Mazanke landed three spots back in 43rd.
In the field, the duo of junior Kiera Washpun and freshman Eric Burns wrapped up strong seasons in the long jump. Washpun, fresh off capturing the first league title of her career just under two weeks ago, notched a top leap of 18-05.25 (5.62m) that saw the Iowa City, Iowa native finish 42nd. Burns capped off a fantastic rookie season by finishing 29th on the men's side of the event as the New Carlisle, Ind. product reached 25-04.25 (7.42m).
This evening's performances close out an impressive outdoor season for Loyola track & field. The Ramblers crowned a trio of Missouri Valley Conference champions in Washpun, White and junior Emma Hatch, all of whom, along with Burns, are slated to return to Rogers Park in 2017-18.
