Outdoor Track & Field Blog #1: Alyvia Clark
Junior writes about start of the outdoor season
March 28, 2013
Hello all, my name is Alyvia Clark and I am a junior, on the track & field and cross-country teams here at Loyola. I am working toward an accounting major with a minor in marketing. Being a part of the business school and athletic department, I feel I am experiencing a large part of what Loyola has to offer. My decision to attend Loyola was an unusual one. I am not formally Jesuit educated nor am I Catholic, but my desire to continue competitive athletics and to gain experiences outside of my rural Ohio hometown have led me here. While at Loyola I have realized how fortunate I am for the rash decision I made. There are so many opportunities in Chicago and I am truly starting to recognize the value of my Jesuit education. I look forward to completing my degree and running career at Loyola and embarking on the next stage of my life, full of Rambler pride.
The T&F Ramblers kicked off the outdoor season in Nashville, Tennessee at Vanderbilt University this past weekend. After training in the cold Chicago wind, the mild, high forties of Nashville felt tropical. The first night kicked off with some field events and selective invitational races. The Ramblers had representation in three of the four invite races and faired very well against some big schools.
Day two was jammed packed with Ramblers in all types of events. We had everything from 100 meter sprinters to javelin throwers to steeple chasers to 800 meter runners, the list goes on and on. Numerous Ramblers came away from day two with personal records. A ridiculous amount of marks made Loyola's top ten board on both the men and women's side (this happens almost every weekend).
Overall the Ramblers had a successful weekend in Nashville. The bus ride home was a tad exhausting but we all got up the next day and got back at it. We have another big weekend ahead of us we have athletes competing at the Raleigh Relays and Stanford Invite. Be ready for some big PR's and National top times! I'll get back at you next week with results!
