"Trust in yourself, while all others doubt you."
After last week's quote I just liked the idea of putting a small saying or quote that has helped me through many different challenges over the years or something that I just simply like.
Ironically, this quote definitely applied to us this week as well. Coming up on our first home game of the young season during a time of celebration for the unveiling of the brand new, revamped Gentile Arena I know doubt was in the mind of many out there. The only thing on our minds other than being captivated by the beautiful new arena was an immense amount of focus in preparation for the game versus Fordham. Obviously teams let the season go one of two ways after a bumpy start and last Monday morning we woke up with our decision made - we simply were not going to lay down and die.
I'm happy to say that last Saturday we showed a lot of toughness and simply came out and trusted one another and ourselves. Right out of the gate we made our statement by taking a lead that we would never lose throughout the game. As any good team does, Fordham punched back and made a few runs that had me biting my fingernails (it's actually a habit), but in the end we held our ground and stayed poised.
Now it's back on the road to Green Bay and Milwaukee as we begin Horizon League play. Being a Minnesota Vikings fan, this is not my favorite road trip since I have to make sure to watch out for all those cheese heads. Just kidding! This year though, I have to be honest with myself and say "what Vikings?" The Packers are 11-0, so, Go Packers! (I hope no one from Minnesota is reading this, oh well)
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope to see you all in Wisconsin this weekend or at our next home game on December 7 against DePaul.
