Loyola Ranked No. 21 In Latest collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll

Dec. 8, 2010

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team is ranked No. 21 in this week's collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, which was released earlier this week. The Ramblers have been ranked as high as No. 10 in the poll this season.

Loyola is one of three Horizon League schools to earn a ranking in this week's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, with undefeated Cleveland State (10-0) staking claim to the No. 1 spot in the poll. Gonzaga, Old Dominion, St. Mary's and Wichita State round out the top five while last season's NCAA Runner-Up, Butler, checks in at No. 8.

This season, Loyola won its first seven contests for its best start since 1962-63 when that squad opened with 21 consecutive victories and went on to win the NCAA Championship. At 7-2 this season, the Ramblers have received balanced production on offense as five players enter tonight's game versus SIU Edwardsville averaging double figures in scoring, led by senior guard Geoff McCammon at 13.3 points per game.

The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast.
