Loyola Finishes Strong At UK Bluegrass Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A strong finish today helped Loyola University Chicago's men's golf team to a 19th-place showing in a tough field of competition at the UK Bluegrass Invitational, which concluded this afternoon at the Big Blue Course. With a team score of 896 (309-294-293) at the tournament, the Ramblers improved from a 23rd-place standing after one round of play. Murray State (850) edged both Memphis (851) and Auburn (851) for the team title. Dylan Gergen was Loyola's top finisher in the three-round event as he tied for 46th with a score of 220 (76-71-73), which included an even-par 71 in round two. Sean Collopy was consistent in all three rounds as he put up a 222 (75-73-74) to tie for 63rd overall, while Thomas Greene was exceptional in the final two round to finish tied for 78th with a 224 (81-72-71). Erik Hoops put up a 234 (77-82-75) to tie for 113th, while Charlie Schaffer notched a 237 (81-78-78) to tie for 119th to round out the Loyola list of competitors. Auburn's John Stembridge, who shot a six-under 65 in round two, took home medalist honors by carding a 206 (71-65-70). Loyola is back in action when it competes at the Detroit Titans Invitational, April 17-18. Final Team Results |
