Glenview, Ill. - Sophomore Nick Dennis fired back-to-back rounds of 74, matching his season-low, as the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team opened play at the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate in Glenview, Ill.
As it has done early on this spring, the weather proved to be an obstacle for the competitors on Chicago's North Shore. The opening round was played under abundant sunshine with temperatures peaking in the upper 60s but with stiff winds in excess of 20 mph. Temperatures would hold steady during second round play but featured the same windy conditions coupled with rain showers.
Dennis, out of Waterford, Mich., was fantastic on the opening day of play. He is tied for 15th on the individual leaderboard, the top spot for any Rambler heading into Tuesday's final round. Senior Brian Van De Motter (79-74) matched Dennis in the second round, bolstered by birdies on holes 3 and 13.
Final round action at the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m. in Glenview.
