Van De Motter Turns In Impressive Effort At CSU Invitational|

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior Brian Van De Motter shot an even-par 72 today and finished with a 54-hole score of 229 (79-78-72) as the Loyola University Chicago men's golf squad claimed 10th place at the CSU Invitational, which concluded this afternoon at Canterbury Golf Club. Oakland (871) held off a final-round charge from host Cleveland State (874) to earn the team title.
Van De Motter's even-par 72 today tied for the second-lowest mark of his Loyola career and his three-round total of 229 placed him tied for 26th overall and first among all Rambler golfers. Loyola also pulled in solid efforts from Nick Willenborg and Nick Dennis, who turned in rounds of 76 and 77, respectively, today. Both Willenborg (80-78-76) and Dennis (75-82-77) collected tournament marks of 234 to tie for 40th place overall, while Sean Hickey notched a 240 (81-77-82) to tie for 56th and Alex Cusumano posted a 248 (79-87-82) to finish 66th.
Cleveland native Anthony Maroon, who was competing as an individual, finished with a flourish, shooting a career-best, two-over 74 today for a 54-hole score of 236 (81-81-74) to tie for 45th place among all golfers.
Evan Bowser of Oakland (69-75-69=213) held off Cody Fixari of Wright State (75-69-70=214), teammate Mark Foster (73-70-71=214) and Josh Nichols of Appalachian State (73-73-68=214) to secure medalist honors.
Loyola is back in action this weekend when it competes at the John Dallio Memorial hosted by DePaul University in Lemont, Ill., October 6-7.
