Loyola Set For Kemper Sports Intercollegiate In Glenview

April 14, 2013

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's golf team will make the short trip to suburban Glenview, Ill. for the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, April 15-16.

A strong 14-team field, including every NCAA Division I program from Chicago, has been assembled. The field is highlighted by Loyola, the host school Northwestern, local rivals DePaul and Chicago State, regional foes Bradley, Illinois State, Northern Illinois and Western Illinois, Big East powers Marquette and St. John's and Ohio State out of the Big Ten. The importance of this event is not lost on Loyola head coach Adam Kwiatkoski.

"Outside of the conference championship, this is our biggest event of the spring season," said Kwiatkoski. "The weather will present a challenge for us, as it has all spring here in Chicago. This is a great opportunity to play close to home and against some great Division I schools. It's truly an honor to be invited. I've been coaching the men's side here at Loyola for nine years and, after eight years of asking, it speaks volumes about the direction our program is headed in to receive an invite."

Kwiatkoski will run out the same starting five from last weekend's Hotels at Grand Prairie Collegiate Classic. Junior Alex Cusumano led the way for Loyola in Peoria, Ill., finishing tied for third-place on the individual leaderboard. The Rambler lineup will also include senior Brian Van De Motter, junior Nick Willenborg, sophomore Nick Dennis and freshman PJ Riner.

The action on Monday and Tuesday will take place at The Glen Club, a Tom Fazio designed course that opened in 2001. It played host to the Nationwide Tour's LaSalle Bank/Bank of America open for seven years as well as the 2005 Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge. The course has also received numerous accolades, including being ranked as the No.2 public course in Illinois by Golf Magazine.

The event will play to a par-72, 7,149-yard layout. The opening two rounds of play will take place on Monday, beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. with tee times off both the front and back nines. Live scoring both days of the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate can be found at Golfstat.com.

Following the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate, Loyola will return to action at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind., April 20-21.
