Men's Golf Returns to Action at 2012 Purdue/Midwest Shootout
Seniors look to make an impact against nine-team field
Sept. 13, 2012
CHICAGO - The Loyola men's golf team will resume their fall schedule by competing in the 2012 Purdue/Midwest Shootout this Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind.
Purdue University will host the 36-hole event, scheduled to be played on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, a par-72 course with a 7,465-yard layout. The tentative start time for Sunday is 8:30 a.m. ET.
The nine-team field includes host team Purdue, Horizon League rival Valparaiso and local foe Chicago State. Head coach Adam Kwiatkoski will turn to two of his seniors, Charlie Schaffer and Brian Van De Motter, to lead the Ramblers on Sunday.
"I'm looking forward to seeing two of my seniors play on such a difficult course. It will be interesting to see how their respective games hold up," said Kwiatkoski. "Even though we're familiar with the course, it is still very challenging and will be a great test for our guys at this point in the season."
Nick Willenborg will be looking to continue his great play from the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate. His four-under-par 68 helped propel him to an eighth place finish on the individual leaderboard. Alex Cusumano and PJ Riner will also hope to build on strong starts to their seasons at Turning Point.
Following their trip to West Lafayette, the Ramblers will return to action at the two-day D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate Invitational in Normal, Ill., beginning on September 22nd.
