Loyola Men's Golf Opens Play At CSU Invitational
Oct. 1, 2012
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Nick Dennis and Brian Van De Motter each tallied a 157 today as the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team opened play at the CSU Invitational at Canterbury Golf Club. With a team score of 628 after 36 holes of golf, the Ramblers find themselves in 10th place, just 12 strokes behind eighth-place Wright State. Oakland (583) holds a seven-shot lead over host Cleveland State (590) as the teams head into tomorrow's final round. Mark Foster (Oakland) sits atop the individual leaderboard with a 143 (73-70), which places him one stoke ahead of both Cody Fixari (Wright State) and teammate Evan Bowser (Oakland). Dennis opened the day for the Ramblers by shooting a three-over-par 75 before taking an 82 in today's second round. Van De Motter, who was playing back in his hometown, was consistent, putting up a 79 in the opening round before trimming a stroke off that total in the day's final round of 18. Nick Willenborg (80-78) and Sean Hickey (81-77) each turned in a 158 and Alex Cusumano had an uncharacteristically tough day, going for a 166 (79-87) to round out the Loyola lineup. Sophomore Anthony Maroon, who like Van De Motter was returning to compete in his hometown, recorded a 162 (81-81) while competing as an individual. The 11-team field wraps up play tomorrow with 18 holes of golf tomorrow morning. Team Results Through Two Rounds |
