Alex Wynne Named College Soccer 360 Primetime Performer Of The Week

Nov. 17, 2011

CHICAGO -

Loyola University Chicago senior Alex Wynne has been named a Men's Soccer Division I Primetime Performer for games during the week of Nov. 7-13, as selected by CollegeSoccer360.com on Wednesday, Nov 16.

To be considered for the weekly honor, players must exhibit strong leadership, work to overcome adversity as either an individual or part of a team, and perform at a high level in a game that is key to the team's postseason qualification and/or participation, which special consideration given to key performances away from the team's home pitch and/or against a traditional rival.

After missing 10 games in the midseason due to injury, Wynne came back strong and was a key member of the defensive line that has notched five straight shutouts for Loyola on its way to the 2011 Horizon League Championship.

The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native was named to the Horizon League All-Tournament team after making key stops to help the defense limit the opposition to only 11 shots on goal in the tournament and tallying a penalty kick in the seventh round of the decisive semifinal shootout. He also finished with one shot on goal in each of the final two matches of the tournament, including a bullet from 30 yards out midway through the second half against Wright State, barely missing the game-winner when the ball was knocked off the crossbar by the Raider keeper.

Loyola will kick off against Bradley tonight for the NCAA Tournament First Round contest, beginning at 7:00 p.m. CST in Peoria, Ill.
