The redshirt senior recaps the past few weeks' preparation for this weekend's tournament

CHICAGO - Hey everyone!
Hope you guys had a great and safe holiday season like we did! The volley squad reported back to campus on the 28th of December to pick up where we left off right before finals. "Two a Days" began on the 29th, and everyone on the team was hungry to get better every single day to prepare for the 2 week trip in California, which starts January 6th. We wasted no time in working on our spiking, bumping, blocking, and setting skills.
With the dorms being closed over winter break, some of the younger class players had to move into teammate's houses off-campus. There was a lot of down time in between practices and lifting sessions solely for relaxation. 5 hours of training for the first few days called for hours of couch time and treatment from our trainer, Bryan Yonka.
Before we leave for the trip out West, the Windsor Lancers came to the newly renovated Gentile Center on January 2nd. This game was an opportunity for a lot of guys to get on the court and play against a team that we were not to familiar with. Before the match, Coach Davis showed us an inspirational clip on how productivity breeds success. To say the least, the clip got everyone stoked to go out and beat the Lancers. We ended up taking care of business in 3 games, which were led by Junior setter Matt Mirick. He displayed to everyone that he spread out our offense consistently and throw down the 2 ball.
We had one last practice on the 3rd before we had to leave campus for the airport at 4:30am the next morning. We hoped to keep building on what we have been working on all week to ensure we were ready for Long Beach State on January 6th.
