Loyola looks to build upon its three-match win streak when it plays its first road contests in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association action this season. The Ramblers opened league play last weekend with home wins over Lindenwood and Quincy. Loyola hasn't won more than three straight since a seven-match run, January 9 - February 6, 2016.
Scouting the Bearcats
McKendree had a four-match win streak snapped when it came up on the short end of a pair of decisions versus MIVA foes Fort Wayne and Ball State last weekend. With 3.41 kills per set, senior opposite Maalik Walker leads a McKendree offense that hits at a .274 clip.
The Bearcats are undefeated at home in 2017, posting victories over Lindenwood and Emmanuel.
Loyola has prevailed in each of the previous five meetings with McKendree, winning each of those matches in straight sets.
Scouting the Buckeyes
Defending national champion Ohio State has been dominating teams early in the 2017 season, losing just three sets through its first 11 matches. The Buckeyes, who are hitting .366 as a team, are already 7-0 against ranked foes this year.
Miles Johnson (4.49 kills per set) and Nicolas Szerszen (4.11 kills per set), who are each hitting over .400, lead the Ohio State offense. Ohio State is 6-0 at home this season and has won 17 straight matches at St. John Arena.
Loyola has dropped the last two meetings with OSU after winning the previous six matchups.
Loyola returns to Gentile Arena next weekend to face Fort Wayne (Feb. 16) and Ball State (Feb. 18).
