CHICAGO - Hello Sports Fans,
Let me get you all caught up on what the team has been up to.
This past weekend, we flew out to the East Coast to take on George Mason and NJIT (New Jersey Institute of Technology). When we landed in Washington D.C. on Thursday, we drove right to the Berzins' residence for dinner. We all ate ourselves into a food coma, dominating the delicious Mexican spread they had prepared for us. The next day, we had a "serve and pass" in the early afternoon to get the blood flowing and a feel for George Mason's gym. That night, we ended up sweeping the Patriots in three games.
On Saturday morning, we made a lengthy drive to Mike Bunting's house in Wyomissing, Pa. The players and staff were treated again to another great meal at one of the teammate's houses. After eating our lunch, watching some college basketball games, and playing some billiards, it was time to head to our next volleyball competition in Newark, N.J. We ended up taking care of business in four games against the Highlanders. After a safe flight back, we knew we had a big week of practice ahead of us.
This weekend, as you all know, we square off against IPFW and Ohio State for two crucial MIVA conferences matches. We hope to get all the support we can from students, staff, family, and friends. Some players who are not from the Chicagoland area have a lot of family members from out of town coming in for this game so that will be a great start to an awesome atmosphere in the gym. Hope to see you all out there!
