CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago men's volleyball concludes its regular-season series against No. 7 Lewis on Wednesday, March 13. The Ramblers travel to Romeoville, Ill. where they will take on the Flyers at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Ramblers took a week off from action after falling to No. 9 Ohio State in a five-set thriller on March 1. Loyola made a comeback after dropping the first two sets, taking their opponent to a decisive fifth set (16-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-13). Thomas Jaeschke and Joseph Smalzer paced the attack with 19 kills apiece while Peter Hutz tallied 54 assists.
Scouting the Flyers: Lewis is on a 13-match win streak and remains undefeated in conference play with an 8-0 MIVA record. The Flyers lead the conference in MIVA play with a .331 hitting percentage and 3.32 blocks per set. Geoff Powell and Jay Petty anchor the attack averaging 3.69 kills per set and 2.89 kills per set, respectively, while Yiwei Zhou (1.13 blocks/set) and Bobby Walsh (1.12 blocks/set) remain a force at the net.
Loyola dropped its first match against the Flyers this season, 3-1, but continues to lead the all-time series by a slim 21-20 margin. The last time the Ramblers won in Neil Carey Arena was in 2011 when they defeated the Flyers in a five-set showdown (19-25, 25-15, 25-15, 17-25, 15-11).
