CHICAGO – The Ramblers take a break from conference play, hosting Saint Francis on Friday, March 15 at Gentile Arena. After defeating No. 7 Lewis on Wednesday night, Loyola University Chicago looks to continue with its winning ways, taking on the Red Flash for a second time this season. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
Last Time Out: Loyola ended Lewis’ 13-game win streak on March 13, defeating the Flyers, 3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 12-25, 27-25). It was the first time since 2011 that Lewis has dropped a game at home. Joseph Smalzer led the offense with 15 kills while Thomas Jaeschke notched 12 kills and seven digs. Peter Hutz tallied 41 assists.
Scouting the Red Flash: Saint Francis is 8-10 overall, winning its last three matches. Logan Patterson heads the Red Flash attack with 3.98 kills per set and is joined by fellow outside hitter Colin Sherwin who averages 2.84 kills per set. Nick Bancroft serves as libero, notching 2.43 digs per set.
The Ramblers swept their first match against Saint Francis this season, defeating the Red Flash on the road (25-16, 25-22, 25-16). Loyola is undefeated at home in its series with Saint Francis and has lost to the Red Flash only once in program history, boasting a 9-1 all-time record.
