CHICAGO - After leading Loyola to a pair of wins last week, freshman Thomas Jaeschke (Wheaton, Ill.) has been named Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Offensive Player of the Week. It marks the second time this season that Jaeschke has won the weekly award.
Jaeschke averaged 4.17 kills per set at a .429 efficiency to lead Loyola to a pair of MIVA sweeps over Grand Canyon last week. He slammed 14 kills (14-2-28, .429) on Wednesday night and added 11 more (11-2-21, .429) on Thursday night as the Ramblers extended their season-best winning streak to seven matches.
For the season, Jaeschke is second on the team with 272 kills (3.28 kps) while hitting a sizzling .350 from his outside hitter position.
Loyola (17-8, 8-3 MIVA) enters the homestretch of the regular season one game behind Lewis in the standings. The Ramblers wrap up their regular-season home schedule with a pivotal match against Ohio State on Saturday afternoon. First serve from Gentile Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m.
