Jendryk, Jaeschke Set For World League Play
June 1, 2017

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago senior Jeff Jendryk, former Rambler Thomas Jaeschke and their U.S. Men’s National Team mates open FIVB World League play tomorrow against Serbia in Nova Sad, Serbia. The U.S. Men are ranked No. 2 in the country.

Jendryk is one of three current collegiate players on the U.S. Men’s National Team roster and is joined on the squad by Jaeschke, a former two-time All-American and the 2015 American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Year. Jaeschke led the Ramblers to back-to-back NCAA championships in 2014 and 2015, with Jendryk helping Loyola to the second of those two titles. Jaeschke also was a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team that earned the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Named AVCA First Team All-America, Jendryk ranked fourth in the nation with a .431 hitting percentage (226-39-434) in 2017. He is the first player in Loyola history to be tabbed AVCA First or Second Team All-America three or more times in his career.

The FIVB is repeating the World League formula it uses in Olympic years. The U.S. Men will play Serbia, Canada and Belgium, June 2-4 in Serbia. From June 9-11, the squad will face Italy, Russia and host France before ending pool play in Poland against Iran, Russia and Poland, June 15-18.

The top five finishers plus Brazil will qualify for the World League Final Round in Curitiba, Brazil, July 4-7.
