Junior discusses Ramblers as they head to NE Ohio for pair of Horizon League games
Jan. 11, 2012
CHICAGO - After starting out the New Year and Horizon League play with a win at Milwaukee, we have hit a bit of a slump letting our last three games slip away from us. There's no sense in dwelling on the past and wondering how or why we couldn't come out with wins, so I'll focus on the positives, and look ahead to our games against Youngstown State and Cleveland State this coming weekend.
Playing in a great mid-major league, we know that each game is going to be a battle. In our first four games we have had some great individual performances from both Troy Hambric and Simone Law who laid down the "law", no pun intended, in the paint. Both Troy and Simone have really given us a lift with their outstanding post play; both garnering double-doubles against league teams. Although we didn't pull out wins in our last three games, having this post play is promising looking toward our next two games in Ohio.
Being on winter break and not having to worry about homework or tests, it really gives our team a chance to get in some quality hours in the gym without any distractions. The beginning of the week will be devoted to scouting Youngstown, and Friday will be devoted to Cleveland. Although it may seem like all work and no play, our team is excited to go to Dave and Busters for dinner and games on Tuesday night. This will give us a bit of a break from the basketball court, as well as some new stuffed animals for the locker room (we still have a large pink frog from last year's festivities).
It will be nice to get two wins in Ohio this weekend and maybe go on a little run in the league. We will be putting the things we learned from our first few games into action and come home new and improved!
