I'm not going to say I told you so, but I told you so! After a long four days in Ohio, just as I predicted, we won both our games and really made some big strides forward. After only winning five games in conference last season, our goal for this season was to go above and beyond that and bring this program to the next level. As of now, being only halfway through the first half of Horizon League play, we have already won three games against tough opponents and are ready to tackle Valparaiso and Butler this coming week.
Now that winter break is coming to an end we no longer have the luxury of being able to spend an ample amount of time in the gym, and also find our practice times moving around due to other sports coming back to start practice. We now will be having practice at 6:30 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, forcing us to deal with change and make sure that our practices are just as productive.
Although each game we play is extremely important, there is nothing like playing at home and having that little chip on your shoulder. Being able to play in the sparkling new Gentile Arena has made it imperative that we beat each team that enters.
This week will definitely be a testament to our team's progress thus far, and it will be vital in our effort to protect our house and continue on this winning streak. When I report back to you next week, we will have won four in a row and my hometown 49ers will be in the Super Bowl...
