COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresh off her first season at the head of the Rambler bench, Loyola University Chicago head women's basketball coach Kate Achter has been selected to present at the USA Basketball New York Coach Academy, May 20-21, in Mt. Vernon, N.Y.
"This is an incredible opportunity," Achter commented. "I believe that we must continue to grow our game from the grassroots level, and the Coach Academy is an amazing avenue for continued education. I look forward to sharing just as much as I am looking forward to learning in New York."
The USA Basketball Coach Academy -- Presented by Nike, offers coaches training to provide insight and education for teaching the game of basketball to young players. Guest speakers are tasked with highlighting on-court and off-court coaching techniques and life skills to deliver engaging sessions to both coaches and administrators that are in attendance.
Achter joins an impressive group of speakers scheduled to appear at the two-day event that also includes Don Showalter, USA Basketball Coach Development Director and eight-time USA Basketball Development Coach of the Year; Bob Cimmino, head boys basketball coach at Mount Vernon High School (N.Y.) and a head coach for the victorious 2010 USA Nike Hoop Summit Team; Jim Engles, head men's basketball coach at Columbia University; Greg Herenda, head men's basketball coach at Farleigh Dickinson University; Mike Jones, head boys basketball coach at DeMatha Catholic High School (Md.) and a three-time, gold-medal winning USA Basketball coach; Heather Macy, head women's basketball coach at East Carolina University; and King Rice, head men's basketball coach at Monmouth University.
