Loyola, Northwestern Team Up For Danny Did Foundation
Dec. 7, 2011
While Loyola and Northwestern will do battle on the court this Saturday (Dec. 10) at Gentile Arena, the two programs have teamed up off the floor to benefit the Danny Did Foundation. The Danny Did Foundation was founded by Mike and Mariann Stanton in 2010 to prevent deaths caused by seizures. It aims to advance awareness of Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) and enhancing the SUDEP communication model between medical professionals and those affected by seizures as well as mainstreaming seizure detection and prediction devices that may assist in preventing deaths caused by seizures. Mariann, who starred at Loyola from 1988-92 and is second on the Ramblers' career assists chart, and her husband Mike, a Northwestern graduate, lost their 4-year old son Danny to SUDEP. A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to the foundation and there will be a Danny Did Bake Sale taking place at the game. In addition, Danny's sister Mary Grace and her Edgebrook Eagles will play a scrimmage on the court for your halftime entertainment. For more information, visit the foundation's online at www.dannydid.org. Tip-off between the Ramblers and Wildcats is set for 2 p.m. |
