Loyola Women's Golf Claims Second Place At Green Bay Invitational

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Senior Ann Vrdolyak Loyola University Chicago leapfrog Lewis to finish in second place at the Green Bay Invitational, which wrapped up today with 18 holes at Green Bay Country Club. The Ramblers posted a team total of 630 to finish behind only Butler (617) in the 10-team tournament. After shooting an even-par 73 in yesterday's opening round, Vrdolyak carded a three-over 76 today to finish with a 149, which earned her medalist honors. The senior finished three strokes ahead of Michele Nash of Butler, who notched a 152 (76-76), to win the Green Bay Invitational for the second time in three seasons. Vrdolyak also wound up tied for first last year but, along with then teammate Nikki Miller, dropped a three-player playoff to Annie Nolan of Valparaiso. However, Vrdolyak wasn't the only Rambler to shine in the 36-hole event this fall, as sophomore Carly Schneider and Alexandra Meyers posted identical scores of 158 (78-80) to tie for eighth place overall. Christy Taugner (84-87=171) and Carey Farley (91-81=172) rounded out the field of Loyola golfers by tying for 41st and 43rd, respectively. Loyola is back in action when it plays in the Chi-po Invitational in Valparaiso, Ind., September 19-20. Final Team Results |
