Vrdolyak Leads Loyola To First-Place Finish At Chi-Town Showdown

ALGONQUIN, Ill. - Senior Ann Vrdolyak shot a team-low 78 to help the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team to a first-place finish at the Chi-Town Showdown at the Golf Club of Illinois on Saturday, October 22. On a picture-perfect day for golf, with sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s, the Ramblers posted a team score of 321 to edge Chicago State (325) and UIC (355). Vrdolyak's round of 78 tied her with Diana Flores of Chicago State and gave her medalist honors for the third time this fall as she continues to post the best season of her career. Alexandra Meyers and Carly Schneider each fired rounds of 80, while April Ohlendorf added an 83 and Ashley Garrison posted an 88 for Loyola. Three Ramblers competed as individuals, with Rachel Mayer registering an 84, Carey Farley tallying an 88, and Christy Taugner recording a 90. Loyola wrapped up an impressive fall season by placing first or second in each of its five meets. The Ramblers will resume action in March when they take their annual spring trip to Florida.
