Women's Golf Blog #7: Carey Farley
Junior blogs about preparing for competition at Bowling Green
April 10, 2013
Bob Hope once said, "If you watch a game, it's fun. If you play it, it's recreation. If you work at it, it's golf". This notorious quote is exceptionally relevant for our team at this time. With the warm weather knocking on our door, now is the time to step up our games more than ever.
Over the weekend we had our first practice of 2013 on real grass! And, I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually looking forward to finally getting my hideous farmer's tan back! It's been too long having a proportionally pale body. I can't wait until I get those half tan legs/ white feet/arm cutoffs/transparent forehead look again because I know it's what catches the eye of all those single Ramblers out there!
Well, as many of you may know the Masters Tournament begins this week. Not to steal the thunder of any of the PGA pros who will be competing this weekend, but I've discovered a coincidence between our tournament this weekend in Bowling Green and the Masters. If you're not familiar with the Masters, the champion of the tournament is awarded a famous green jacket. I believe that the color of green and this comparison between these two tournaments foreshadows our inevitable victory at Bowling Green! Okay, I understand this similarity may seem a little far-fetched, but given the results of our previous tournaments we are very motivated to finish first. If there is one aspect of the game that this team understands it is that you have to keep working at it like Mr. Hope advocates.
I imagine the Rocky Balboa theme song playing in the background as our team storms the course with a vengeance and breaks course records. In the words of Tiger Woods, "I love to play golf, and that's my arena. And you can characterize it and describe it however you want, but I have a love and a passion for getting that ball in the hole and beating those guys". This is the weekend that it will happen. Let's go Ramblers!
