Team Effort Puts Loyola In First Place After One Round At WIU Autumn Invite

MACOMB, Ill. - Backed by solid play from each member of the lineup, most notably freshman Alexandra Meyers and senior Ann Vrdolyak, Loyola University Chicago (315) holds a one-stroke lead over SIU Edwardsville (316) after one round of play at the WIU Autumn Invitational. Meyers and Vrdolyak each recorded rounds of 75 or lower today to lead the Ramblers' charge at the par-72 Harry Mussatto Golf Course.

Meyers posted the best round of her fledgling Loyola career in today's opening round, shooting a two-over-par 74 to share the overall lead with Ashton Stair of SIUE. Right on their heels is Vrdolyak, who handed in a three-over 75. The Flossmoor, Ill., native has now shot 76 or lower in four of her seven rounds this season.

Loyola also received solid performances from all other spots in the lineup as April Ohlendorf posted an 81, Carly Schneider registered an 85 and Christy Taugner put up an 88.

The Ramblers look to maintain their tournament lead when the eight-team field plays the second and final round tomorrow morning beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
