Ramblers Resume Conference Play

CHICAGO – Loyola University Chicago women’s soccer resumes conference play Saturday, Oct. 6, when it host Wright State at 7 p.m. The Ramblers look to improve their 1-1-0 Horizon League record.

Last Time Out: The Ramblers fell, 1-0, to Illinois State on Wednesday after giving up a goal in the 85th minute. The teams played a close game during the first half as Illinois State managed to outshoot Loyola 6-4, while the Ramblers took the 6-5 advantage on corner kicks. Freshman Kristin Rodriguez opened the game with the first shot for Loyola in the second minute, taking possession of the ball after a corner kick by freshman Mariah Vichich was cleared off the line by Illinois State. With five minutes left in regulation and the game scoreless, Aimee Wronski put Illinois State in the lead, placing a header between the posts to earn the game-winner.

vs. Wright State: Wright State is on a four-game unbeaten streak, tying its last game against conference opponent Green Bay, 1-1. The Raiders are 1-0-1 in the Horizon League and carry a 6-2-4 overall record. Reigning Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week, Ini Umotong headlines the Raiders’ offense, leading the Horizon League with six goals. Abby McCurdy serves as the primary goalkeeper for Wright State, posting four shutouts this season and 59 saves. The Ramblers are 10-18-1 in the series against the Raiders, losing the last meeting, 2-1.
