Keenan Dolezal tossed a complete-game four-hitter to help Loyola University Chicago to a 4-1 victory over North Carolina A&T this afternoon. The win keeps the Ramblers perfect on the season at 11-0, while the Aggies fall to 5-11-1.
How It Happened
Loyola wasted little time in providing Dolezal with a lead as Erica Nagel drew a lead-off walk and Shannon McGee was hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the first inning. After NC A&T starter Zadasia Waddell retired the next two Ramblers, Ashley Parenti laced a two-out single to right field to bring home Nagel for an early 1-0 lead. Jordyn Cordell followed with a walk to load the bases for Jamie O’Brien, who ripped a singled through the right side for a 2-0 Rambler advantage.
Katie Kasubke added to the Loyola lead with a two-out double to left center in the second inning to score McGee who had reached on a fielder’s choice.
The Aggies finally broke through against Dolezal in the fourth inning when Waddell delivered a RBI single to slice the Ramblers’ lead to 3-1.
Loyola mounted a rally in the fifth when Kasubke led off with a single up the middle and a wild pitch and sacrifice bunt moved pinch runner Elyse Nakamoto to third. One out later, Cordell smacked a single up the middle to make it 4-1 and that score would hold up as Dolezal kept the Aggies scoreless in their final two at-bats.
A Look At The Numbers
