In Short
Morgan Florey struck out 12 and hit a walk-off three-run home run in the seventh inning to power host Evansville (11-12, 3-0 MVC) to a 4-1 victory over Loyola University Chicago today at Cooper Stadium. The loss drops the Ramblers to 16-7 overall and 0-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play.

How It Happened
After Loyola let a golden scoring opportunity slip away in the top of the first inning, putting runners on second and third with no outs, then loading the bases, Evansville pushed a run across in its first turn at bat. Chandra Parr stroked a two-out single to right that scored Brittany Hay, who had opened the frame with a base hit, for a 1-0 Purple Aces lead.

The Ramblers weren’t able to get the big hit and capitalize on a threat in the top of the third after filling the bags with runners. Jordyn Cordell was plunked by a Florey offering with one out, and a single by Katie Kasubke followed by a walk to Sophia Swain, loaded the bases with one out. Florey was able to wiggle her way out of the jam, as Loyola left the bags paced for the second time in the first three frames.

Loyola showed its resiliency, fighting back to tie the game in the sixth inning on Shannon McGee’s RBI single to right field that scored Jamie O’Brien, who had doubled earlier in the inning. But, Florey had the Ramblers’ number at the plate, clubbing a three-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to propel the Purple Aces to a series sweep.

A Look At The Numbers
- Nagel went 2-for-4 and stole a base for Loyola, which managed five hits off of Florey.
