Loyola Softball Blog Entry #1|
Feb. 15, 2012
Hello everyone, I'm Emily and I will be your friendly, neighborhood blogger for the 2012 season! A little about me then on to the fun stuff... softball! I am a sophomore on the team from Midland, Michigan (The only member on the team not from Illinois) and on the field I specialize in first base while off the field I am majoring in Computer Science and International Studies.
We are only 15 days away from our first trip and game of the season. Where has all the time gone? The team will be heading out to Oklahoma on March 1, and since we came back to school in January, every practice and every workout has been geared toward preparing us for the season. We have logged many hours, sometimes wherever we can find space, just to make sure we are ready. The mild weather this winter has been a blessing because multiple times we have been able to go outside and practice as a full team. As a school located in the north we are usually at a disadvantage because we do not practice outside year-round, especially at this time of season, but this year we're leveling the playing field.
The team is getting more and more excited as we get closer to our first trip. First of all, we love this sport. We have dedicated so much of our lives to it and there is nothing more fulfilling than being able to go out and represent our school while playing the sport we love. Second, team trips are always a lot of fun. It is kind of like spending spring break with 15 of your closest friends and we always come back with fun memories (and lots of pictures)! Even if the location is kind of different, Oklahoma in comparison to our Florida trip last year, we all cannot wait to get going.
Lastly, a note has to be made about classes. We all have very full schedules, especially while in season, so we get very good at time management out of sheer necessity. I know this week a lot of the girls have multiple tests and I think I might be the only one who does not have at least one test before Friday. They're all studying hard!
Hard work, on and off the field is the name of the game and the countdown has begun till we take off for Oklahoma. I hope you are all as excited as we are!
Until next time,
