Moore Named Horizon League Player Of The Week By College Sports Madness

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago junior Lauren Moore (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) has been tabbed Horizon League Softball Player of the Week by College Sports Madness it was announced today. In three games last weekend at the Kickin' Chicken Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the third baseman batted .500 (5 for 10) with two home runs, four RBI, and a 1.100 slugging percentage.

Moore opened her junior season in sterling fashion, walloping a three-run home run in her first at-bat of 2013 to spark Loyola to a 7-0 victory over Rhode Island in the season opener on February 22. Her roundtripper was part of a 3-for-4 effort against the Rams, and she followed that performance by going 2-for-3 with a solo homer in a 5-1 loss to Coastal Carolina in game one of a doubleheader on February 24.

Dating back to last season, Moore has hit safely in eight of the last 11 games and she has also been flawless in the field at the hot corner, going 21 consecutive contests without an error.
