Freshman discusses Ramblers' series sweep of Detroit and upcoming trip to northeast Ohio
April 16, 2013
The two things that we remember most about last weekend were 1) we swept a series from Detroit; and 2) we played in hail and snow! The first one we're pumped about, but the second one, we definitely could have done without because it felt like February in April. Mother Nature needs to get her act together because the conference tournament is only three weeks away!
Last weekend was huge for us because it put us in first place in the Horizon League and now we have got to go into this last part of regular season with more fire in our eyes than we've had all season and try to keep riding this positive momentum.
Lately, the home run has been our secret weapon, seeing as five Ramblers ripped shots over the fence last weekend. Lauren Moore crushed her 11th home run of the season, tying the Loyola record for a single season, Brie Pasquale cracked her seventh, tying the school record for homers in a season by a freshman, and Hannah Jenkins put her first collegiate ball over the center field fence. Brooke Andresen also accomplished a big milestone, knocking her 200th hit in game one. Exciting stuff, right? Although we didn't play our absolute best in some pretty unfavorable conditions, we came back to Chicago with 3 W's so we can't complain much though we know we have a long way to go to get to where we want to be this season.
With the Detroit series behind us, we look on to the six games we are about to play in the next four days. Since our games at Youngstown were cancelled due to weather a few weeks back, we are making them up on Thursday and Friday and then driving to Cleveland for our originally scheduled games on Saturday and Sunday. We are ready to kick it!! Leggo Ramblers!
