Anna Eytchison Earns Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week Honor|
Oct. 1, 2012
CHICAGO - For the second time this fall, senior Anna Eytchison (Columbia, Ill./Columbia/Dayton) has been named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week the conference office announced this afternoon. Eytchison also earned the League's first weekly award this season on Aug. 27.
"As always, it is great to have someone honored by the Horizon League," said head coach Chris Muscat. "Anna hit for a high percentage and did what we needed her to do this weekend. However, and I think she would be the first to tell you, she would not have been able to put up those numbers without the contributions of her teammates and I thought we played pretty good team volleyball over the past weekend and, hopefully, we can continue to do that throughout the Horizon League season."
Eytchison was fantastic on Friday night, blasting 20 kills at a .410 clip (20-4-39) and adding five blocks as Loyola earned an impressive 3-0 sweep on the road at Cleveland State. She followed that up with another stellar effort on Saturday afternoon, lacing 22 kills (22-6-44, .364) and adding 10 digs for her third double-double of the season as the Ramblers capped their road trip with a four-set win at Youngstown State.
For the season, Eytchison leads the team and is second in the Horizon League with 259 kills (4.54 kills per set) while hitting an impressive .251 from the outside.
Loyola (11-6, 3-1 Horizon) looks to maintain its solid form this weekend when it hosts Milwaukee and Green Bay in a pair of pivotal Horizon League matches.
