Stephanie Kinane Named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week

Oct. 9, 2012

CHICAGO - Freshman libero Stephanie Kinane (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) has been named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week the conference office announced this afternoon. It marks the first weekly honor of Kinane's career and she is the second Rambler to earn conference accolades this season, as Anna Eytchison has been named the League's Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions.

Kinane averaged 5.80 digs per set in two matches as the Ramblers ralled for five-set wins against both Milwaukee and Green Bay. She opened the weekend strong, digging a match-high 25 balls as Loyola snapped a 12-match losing streak against Milwaukee and closed it with a career-high 33 digs as the Ramblers rallied from an 0-2 deficit to knock off the Phoenix.

For the season, Kinane is third in the Horizon League in digs (356, 5.16 dps) and is part of the reason that the Ramblers lead the league in opponent hitting percentage (.164).

Loyola (13-6, 5-1 Horizon) sits in a tie for first place with Cleveland State heading into this weekend's action. The Ramblers renew their rivalry with UIC this Friday night, with first serve from Gentile Arena set for 7 p.m.
